DIRECTOR

DR TOM HANNA

Dr Tom Hanna is the director of Hypercube Scientific. A physicist by training, he has worked in industry since 2011 and is recognised as an expert in supply chain simulation, advanced analytics and data-driven decision support. He has given several invited talks at industry events and regularly hosts interns as part of his passion for building links between industry and academia. Tom completed a DPhil at Oxford University in 2008 as a John Monash scholar and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Joint Quantum Institute (NIST and the University of Maryland) before returning to Australia. He has published 12 peer reviewed journal articles and 2 book chapters.

Tom started Hypercube Scientific Consulting as a vehicle for his passion for turning scientific analysis into business value. Before Hypercube, he held technical leadership roles at Suncorp Group and Fortescue Metals Group.

DR XINGLONG LU

Xinglong is a control engineer and data scientist with a PhD in control theory. He has extensive experience in system modelling, control design, mathematical optimisation and machine learning. He is passionate about implementing state-of-the-art techniques from the fields of mathematics, statistics, control theory, operations research and software development to help businesses identify opportunities to increase efficiency and robustness of their supply chains.

SIMULATION SCIENTIST

DR SHAHLA KANGACHAR

Interdisciplinary biomedical scientist with research and clinical experience across phage therapy, melanoma biology, computational biology, and clinical laboratory diagnostics. Builds reproducible, decision-supporting analytical workflows using R/Python/Bash, translating complex biological datasets into clear insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experienced in research translation and compliance-oriented documentation through MedTech commercialisation exposures, and comfortable operating across multidisciplinary, multicultural environments.

LINDSAY WINKLER

Chloe is a PhD candidate in Solar Physics at the University of Newcastle with experience applying a range of theoretical and computational techniques to model complex physical systems. Having recently joined Hypercube, she is excited to apply her scientific reasoning and analytical expertise to developing practical solutions for supply chain optimisation and real-world business challenges.

DR ANDRÉ ALMEIDA

Versatile acoustics professional with a proven track record in advanced data science and computational skills. Leveraging a background in Physics, a PhD in acoustics and extensive research experience, André brings robust expertise in machine learning, signal processing, and statistical analysis applied to complex datasets. Proficient in Python, Julia and Matlab, with a strong background in designing multi-level data analysis solutions. Published researcher with experience presenting at international conferences. Multilingual and adaptable, André excels at translating technical challenges into data-driven insights across interdisciplinary domains.

Zsofia Dobos graduated from the University of Oxford with a Master’s Degree in Water Science, Policy and Management. She has worked in hydrology and engineering in the UK, US and Australia. Zsofi brings her creative problem-solving skills to the Hypercube team, and looks after business development.

Mark is a senior mining executive with over 25 years’ experience within iron ore and nickel, known for his ability to integrate people, process, and advanced technology across complex supply chains. With a deep technical understanding of mining operations from pit to port, Mark has held multiple senior leadership roles at Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) and BHP, where he has consistently delivered operational excellence, innovation, and cultural transformation.

KEN WILYMAN

Ken Wilyman is a highly accomplished Civil Engineer and Project Manager with over 35 years of experience, particularly in managing complex port infrastructure and civil projects. His expertise spans the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies to operational handover, with a particular focus on dredging, sediment management, berth construction, and stakeholder consultation. Ken has a proven track record of delivering large-scale, multidisciplinary projects safely, on time, and within budget, even in challenging environments.

ROBERT SOLOMON

Dr Rob Solomon has over 40 years experience in the modeling and analysis of mining supply chains and other industrial operations. In a career that has seen him make pivotal contributions to the rapid expansion and operational improvement of all iron ore majors, Rob has consistently delivered detailed statistical analysis and modeling of a wide range of industrial processes.
